A morning with rain..........

I woke up today neither to the phosphorescent sunlight nor to the singing of birds but to the drizzling sound of rain. I found myself lying lazily on bed repudiating all efforts/excuses of getting me up. It was one of the laziest mornings of recent times.

My cousin turned-on the TV(placed above my head). Through news i came to know that its been raining heavily since 3O'Clock in the morning and whole of the City is flooded with water. Finally i got up against my will and went through ritual phases of getting-fresh. As i sat on a chair in varandah with a hot cup of tea, i watched the rhythmic dance of furious rain. I could see high-rise flats(mark of a metropolitan city) struggling to keep up against heavenly fury. Barely any flying-creatures/birds were visible. On one corner an old poor woman was hiding in a nonexistent shade. She was totally wet from top to bottom with very little cloth on her body. The sight was apologetic enough to send chill down my spines. To avoid the guilty feeling i tried to look elsewhere and found several bare-chest, hand-pulled Rickshaw-wallas still trying to make a living. Life is so-much difficult in metros these days and i always wonder why these people keep coming to big cities leaving behind friends, family and home. As a kid my dad always used to take me to his village and i loved it for its simplicity and natural beauty. Atleast everybody had a house/place to live. The scene on the street was grievous enough to make me avoid looking down and i started gazing at clouds passing over the City.

The clouds reminded me of Meghdootam by Kalidas. Though i have never read it but i know these clouds are perfect exemplification of Meghdoot. Kalidas personified cloud as a messenger carrying the love message of a solider to his wife, traveling over (Once upon a time, beautiful) city of Ujjaini. I began to unearth if these clouds carry some message for me. I sat there for sometime and started thinking about the time that has gone by, things changed and things lost. Suddenly, my Masi broke my day-dream and i realized its time to leave for office. But these clouds do carry loads of messages. Don't they??
